Pre-Arrival Checklist
Planning a move to Czech Republic requires coordinating your visa, insurance, and accommodation well in advance. The Digital Nomad Visa takes 90–120 days to process, so start early. The 90-day visa-free period lets you scout neighbourhoods before committing.
- Apply for your visa 4–5 months ahead: Digital Nomad, Employee Card, or Živno Visa processing takes 60–120 days
- Arrange PVZP health insurance as part of your visa application — need proof of coverage from arrival date
- Book short-term furnished accommodation (Airbnb) for the first 3–4 weeks to find a long-term rental in person
- Get a professional translation of key documents (birth certificate, university diploma, police clearance) into Czech for visa and trade licence applications
- Register with your country's consulate in Prague after arrival — useful for emergency support
- Organise international shipping quote: Crown Relocations, Santa Fe, AGS have Czech-specific experience
- Set up a Wise or Revolut account for initial CZK transfers; local bank account takes 1–2 weeks after arrival to set up
