Climate and Outdoor Life
Cyprus has the hottest and sunniest climate in the Mediterranean, with over 340 days of sunshine per year. Summers are intense (35–40°C inland) but the sea breeze makes coastal life manageable. Winters are mild on the coast (10–18°C) and cold with snow in the mountains — a unique combination that allows skiing and swimming in the same weekend from January to March.
- Summer (June–August): 30–40°C; intense sun; beaches busy; outdoor life shifts to mornings and evenings; AC essential
- Autumn (September–November): 22–30°C; arguably the best season — warm, quieter, sea still warm
- Winter (December–February): 10–18°C on the coast; mild and green; occasional rain; Troodos has snow for skiing
- Spring (March–May): 18–26°C; wildflowers cover the countryside; hiking season in the Troodos
- Beaches: Blue Flag-certified beaches throughout — Nissi Beach (Ayia Napa), Fig Tree Bay (Protaras), Ladies Mile (Limassol), Coral Bay (Paphos)
- Troodos Mountains: Hiking, cycling, and winter skiing (Mount Olympos, 1,952m) — 45–90 minutes from any major city
- Outdoor activities: Cycling along Limassol Molos promenade, kayaking at sea caves, scuba diving in crystal-clear waters (Cape Greco MPA)
