School System Overview
Qatar's private school landscape is regulated by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE). Schools are inspected regularly, and multiple curricula are available to serve the diverse expat population.
- MOEHE: regulates all private and international schools; inspection reports available
- Curricula available: British (IGCSE/A-Level), American (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Indian CBSE, French (Lycée)
- Academic year: September–June for most schools
- Class sizes: typically 18–25 students in international schools
- School transport: buses widely available, QAR 3,000–6,000/year
- Registration: popular schools have 6–12 month waitlists — register as early as possible, ideally before arriving in Qatar
- Qatar Foundation schools (Qatar Academy): IB curriculum, multiple campuses, strong reputation
