B/1 Work Visa — The Standard Employment Route
The B/1 is the primary work visa for non-Jewish foreign nationals employed by Israeli companies. It is entirely employer-sponsored — individuals cannot self-apply. The employer must obtain a work permit from the Ministry of Interior before the visa can be issued.
- Employer-sponsored: a registered Israeli company must apply for your work permit through the Population and Immigration Authority (PIBA)
- Expert visa track: requires salary ≥ 2× the average Israeli wage (~₪26,300/month in 2025); faster processing and fewer restrictions
- Standard B/1: for non-expert workers in approved sectors (tech, agriculture, construction, caregiving); salary requirements vary by sector
- Required documents: valid passport (18+ months validity), employer invitation letter, medical clearance, police background check, employment contract
- Processing time: 4–14 weeks depending on nationality and sector; medical and police checks can extend this
- Renewal: typically 1 year initially, renewable; expert visas may be issued for up to 2 years
