Tourist Visa & Short-Term Stays
Most nationalities require a visa to enter Ghana. The tourist visa is the most common entry route for expats scouting the country, and it can be extended once you arrive.
- Single-entry tourist visa: $60–150 USD depending on nationality; apply online or at a Ghanaian embassy
- Valid for 60 days from date of entry; extendable at Ghana Immigration Service offices in Accra
- Extensions typically granted for an additional 30–60 days with proof of funds and accommodation
- US citizens can apply through the Ghana e-Visa portal (evisa.ghana.gov.gh)
- ECOWAS nationals (Nigeria, Senegal, etc.) enter visa-free for up to 90 days
- Do not work commercially on a tourist visa — work permit required for employment in Ghana
- Many digital nomads cycle tourist visas by exiting to Togo or Côte d'Ivoire and re-entering
